Assignment 5

Assignment 5: Evaluating Effective Teaching + PREP FOR TRAINING 6

For this assignment, you’ll observe and reflect on the teaching style of one of your current teachers. Turn in your reflection no later than 11:59pm on Saturday, May 16.

Note: Keep it respectful. This is not a space for venting or criticizing harshly. Practice giving honest, but respectful and constructive feedback, like you might do when working with a teammate or group leader during volunteering.

Additionally, training 6 will be a practical experience for you all to experience teaching a second language. Please prepare with your class group (assigned at training 5) to teach a 30 min version of the intro lesson you guys talked about at training 5 (INTRO-1) to Leo’s elementary students next training - but in Chinese. The lesson should be a quick introductory lesson to yourselves, expectations/rules, plus an icebreaker. The idea is that you will be teaching in a second language to your students and you will have to figure out ways to communicate throughout the lesson.

Please make sure to refer to the online lesson do’s and dont’s doc and save it for future reference. Turn in your lesson plan no later than 11:59pm on Saturday, April 18.
